Dust off those proto-types and pick up the phone for one on one assistance to take your technology related product or service to the market. Pete Loignon is the latest addition to the Economic Development Alliance of South Eastern Alberta filling the role as the Innovation Facilitator for the region. This assistance is available for all types of industries such as Agriculture, Oil and Gas, Aviation and Aerospace, Energy, Manufacturing, High Tech, etc. Pete will assist primarily by connecting companies with the appropriate programs and people to move their technology or innovation opportunities forward. His background in aviation and aerospace combined with personal business ownership and consulting in streamlining company processes will benefit local companies. Company’s needs may include but are not limited to: · Accessing financial assistance in the form of grants, loans, investors, tax credits and other forms of programs. · Assistance with starting a new business · Help with expansion and growth · Support with research and development · Product innovation · Connecting companies with others to facilitate mutual growth · Support entrepreneurs · High Tech mentoring and advice · Various other types of assistance. The Innovation Facilitator position is a direct result of interviews conducted with the oil and gas industry and manufacturers undertaken this spring by the Economic Development Alliance. These companies indicated that they needed help to take technology they have developed to the market. Funding from the Industrial Research Assistance Program of the National Research Canada Council made this possible. Pete and the EDA are working with community partners like Community Futures in strengthening Southeast Alberta’s technology sector and positioning the region as a sunny, smart, savvy and hospitable place to do business.
