Community and Job Development in Medicine Hat and Area

Published on December 2, 2009

The Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta (EDA) received Community Adjustment Funds (CAF), from Western Economic Diversification and other partner contributions totaling $889,594. These funds will stimulate local communities through job creation, and new infrastructure to enhance services and tourism attractions for long term benefits.
The EDA will be working with the communities of Medicine Hat, Bow Island, and Redcliff for projects such as interior updates and new additions to Police Point Information Centre in Medicine Hat, town revitalization and a new visitor information centre in Bow Island, and the construction of historic cairns in Redcliff.
The CAF funds will enable the EDA to hire appropriate personnel for effective roll out of these projects. Barry Grover will be the project manager and oversee the construction and administration of the projects.  Kelsie Bastura has taken on the role of Project Coordinator for some of the CAF projects. These include Bow Island tourism projects, Medicine Hat branding and Caboose restoration and establishing the Redcliff cairns through research, aid in fundraising initiatives and other supportive tasks.
