Police Point Nature Centre Gets a Facelift

Published on March 3, 2010

Community Adjustment Funds (CAF) obtained by the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta (EDA) focused on enhancing tourism attractions in Southeast Alberta. Police Point Park Nature Centre is a major community asset in Medicine Hat that has been around for 27 years with little work done since it first opened.  This facility was literally bursting at the wood seams due to hosting increasing numbers of tourists. Thanks to the CAF funds, the facility has now completed many renovations to attract even more tourists. The renovations involved leveling the theatre floor, laying new ceramic tile, painting, refurbishing a felt mural, and updating cupboards to refresh the interior exhibit area.  Corlaine Gardner, Chief Park Interpreter, states “These renovations have really livened up this facility. It has increased interest from local visitors, who then want to show it off to their visiting friends and family.”Police Point Nature Centre will be adding an addition onto their facility in the spring also managed by the EDA and funded by the Government of Canada through Western Economic Diversification Canada.
