Medicine Hat had the second lowest median residential property tax based on the 2009, City of Edmonton's, Annual Residential Property Tax and Utility Charges Survey.

A KPMG Study identifies Medicine Hat as having the third lowest business costs in the world.  This study measured 27 components which included labour, taxes, and utility costs incurred by business operations.  According to the KPMG Study Medicine Hat scored within the top three of low cost in the categories of electronics assembly, pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals, advanced software, content development, and corporate services operation.
